How The Loan Process Works

Ever wonder how the loan process works? Since a mortgage is likely the largest financial transaction you'll ever make, knowing a bit about how things work on the inside is very important. Here we'll share a brief rundown of the 3 stages of your mortgage loan.

  • Origination
    This is your initial meeting with your loan officer. Your credit, income and assets are reviewed to determine what you're qualified for and what your interest rate will be. Be open and honest with your loan officer and disclose to them all information concerning your financial picture. The more information your loan officer knows upfront the better we can make adjustments accordingly.
  • Processing
    After your loan officer qualifies you, your loan is sent to the processor. The processors job is to prepare your loan file for underwriting review. To ensure a quick and clean loan approval your processor will ask you for trailing documents to add to what you've already provided your loan officer. It is imperative that you provide your processor with everything they ask for as quickly as possible. Consider your processor your best friend as it is they, not your loan officer, that's going to get your loan closed.
  • Underwriting/Closing
    When your loan is underwritten your processor will let you know if any further documents are required. When all underwriting conditions are met your processor will then start working on scheduling your closing with all parties to the transaction.
